NEXT FLOOR REMIX - trailer from Ouananiche on Vimeo.
Ouananiche is ravenous for films, cooking them up and recomposing them into musical video collages. When PHI Group suggested he officially remix Next Floor, a masterpiece of short filmmaking, it was like opening the door of his pantry. Denis Villeneuve’s 11-minute film, which cleaned up at festivals and won numerous awards worldwide, became the raw material for Ouananiche to chop up, mix and season into a feast for hungry eyes and famished ears. The audiovisual mash-up artist serves up yet another delicious snack.
Collecting contemporary art 50/50: collectors will be able to aquire contemporary art works at a decent price ; half of the sale will go to artists and the other half will go to Amnistie internationale. Furthermore, a charity receipt will be given to buyers for the portion (50%) that will go to Amnistie. Éric Bolduc, curator of the exhibition, has brought together a dozen of artists at the beginning of their career and in mid-carreer, including young talents represented in galleries such as Jean-Sébastien Denis and Julie Ouellet (Simon Blais), Marisa Portolese (Lilian Rodriguez), Jessica Auer (Patrick Mikhail), Alana Riley (Joyce Yahouda), Paul Bourgault (galerie d'Este), Jean-François Bouchard (SAS) and Jason Botkin (Pangée).
Special guest: Alain Tremblay will give a casual talk to testify of his passion for the art and artists from here. In a casual and open to all fashion, this great Montreal collector will explain what motived his first purchases and how the act of collecting pays back on a daily basis.
This event will also be the occasion to raise public awareness on the precarious nature of the visual arts, espacially regarding the socioeconomic status of artists, their rights and freedom of expression.
