Bucket of Blood, 2011. Photo : Guy L'Heureux
A lot of the blood pieces are about man's inhumanity to man. It started when i was very young but stepped up a level when the Hutus and Tutsi were slaughtering each other, rivers of blood, along with the bucket of blood comes the bucket of tears they go together and then there is my dark humour, such as the bluebird of happiness, the bird is dead. The pieces are simplistic but the meaning profound. The white figure holding it's head is about the head being the problem, better to think with your heart. The black bearish figure is about different levels of existence within ourselves, outer, inner ,secret. I work a lot but I am very reclusive and solitary. Reflection, contemplation are important to me and inspires the work. – Sara Day
