Dans sa performance intitulée Je reviendrai bientôt, exercée dans le cadre de son exposition Secrets, Émilie Franceschin aborde autour d’un humour grinçant les notions de traversées dans le temps et dans les espaces, témoignant des obstacles à surmonter afin d’y parvenir. Au travers de passages, de voyages, de départs et de retours, l’artiste assujetti son corps à un lot de contraintes, dans un rapport récurrent entre l’horizontalité et la verticalité, et observe au fil de son parcours les empreintes et les traces éphémères de son passage.
In her performance I’ll Be Back Soon, exercised within the framework of her exhibiton Secrets, Emilie Franceschin will challenge her body in a playful way by constraining herself to a series of obstacles, allowing her to surpass herself and test her limits. The act of performing is not something that can be told. It has to be accomplished, to be lived. And it is through this notion of “being there” that the artist accompanies us on a journey across places and times where the body acts and evokes the intimate relationship it has built with its surroundings.
Diplômée de l’école des Beaux-arts de Toulouse, Émilie Franceschin a présenté son travail dans divers festivals de performances en France ainsi qu’en Italie, en Angleterre, en Belgique et en Allemagne. Elle a effectué plusieurs résidences à la Cité Internationale des Arts à Paris et à Düsseldorf, et présente une performance pour la nuit européenne des musées au musée Calbet en France en mai 2015. En octobre 2014, elle réalise une publication sur son travail de performance intitulé « Du coeur à l’ouvrage ». Émilie Franceschin vit et travaille à Toulouse.
Émilie Franceschin is a graduate from the Toulouse School of Fine Arts and has presented her works in various performance festivals in France, Italy, England, Belgium and in Germany. She has participated in residencies at the Cité internationale des Arts in Paris and in Düsseldorf, and presented a performance in the context of the European Museums Night at the Calbet museum in France in May 2015. In October 2014, she released a publication on her performance work titled “Du coeur à l’ouvrage”. Émilie Franceschin lives and works in Toulouse.
