Talk Show est une exposition et une série d’évènements sur l’art et la politique de la conversation. Organisée par el instituto (Mexico D.F.), cette suite prolonge l’œuvre Talk Show (2012) originale et son exploration du rôle de la parole, de la figure contestée du témoin et des représentations de la constitution du sujet, ainsi que sur la configuration de sa politique.
Talk Show is focused on the art and politics of conversation. Organized by el instituto (Mexico City), the sequel expands on the original Talk Show (2012) and its exploration of the roles of the speech act, of the contested figure of the witness, and of testimonials in the constitution of the subject and the configuration of the political.

Talk Show marque le lancement de la deuxième édition des programmes ciblés, Água Viva. Ce projet de recherche à long terme tire son origine du livre du même titre par Clarice Lispector, publié en 1973, et cherchera à élargir l’usage de méthodologies de « recherche vivante » à SBC. Des artistes, des écrivains, des architectes, des musiciens, des commissaires et d’autres travailleurs et travailleuses culturels seront invités à penser ensemble et à développer des projets à travers et autour de cette œuvre poétique extraordinaire. En laissant tomber la forme narrative et en demeurant dans l’harmonie secrète de l’incohérence, ce programme ciblé, tel que l’ouvrage Água Viva de Clarice Lispector, cherche à tirer sur les fils assemblant les notions de subjectivités politiques en mouvement, les modes de communication et les complexités entre le « Vous » et le « Je ».
el instituto, présentement situé à Mexico D.F., est un organisme à but non lucratif qui présente des expositions, des conférences, des ateliers, des cours et des plateformes pour d’autres idées. el instituto se consacre à l’exploration du chevauchement entre la pratique et la théorie de l’art, de la culture, de la politique, de l’activisme et des droits humains, autant localement qu’à l’étranger. Sans posséder d’espace physique en tant que tel, el instituto fonctionne en symbiose, abrité par diverses institutions académiques et culturelles, tout en opérant également à partir d’installations moins officielles.
“The next instant, do I make it? or does it make itself?”
Talk Show launches SBC’s second Focus Program: Água Viva. This long-term research project emerges out of Clarice Lispector’s 1973 book of the same title and seeks to expand on SBC’s practice of living research: artists, writers, architects, musicians, curators and other cultural practitioners will be invited to think together and to develop projects through and around this extraordinary piece of prose. Dispensing with narrative while dwelling in the “secret harmony of disharmony”, the Focus Program, like Clarice’s Água Viva, seeks to pull at the threads that articulate shifting political subjectivities, modes of address and the complexities between “you” and “I”.
el instituto, currently headquartered in Mexico City, is a not-for-profit organization that generates exhibitions, conferences, workshops, courses and platforms for other events. el instituto is committed to the exploration of the overlap between art, culture, politics, activism and human rights theory and practice, both locally and internationally. Having no physical site of its own, el instituto functions symbiotically, hosted by cultural or academic institutions, while also operating in less official spaces and capacities.
